Kliniderm silicone wound contact layer is a dressing with a soft porous structure through which exudate can easily pass through to the secondary dressing. The silicone wound contact layer hardly absorbs exudate, so it must always be covered with a secondary dressing, such as an absorbent dressing or a non-woven compress. The porous structure minimizes horizontal leakage of wound fluid to the wound edges, reducing the risk of maceration. The exudate immediately absorbs vertically into the secondary dressing.
