Physiological saline solution is sodium chloride 0.9% and has a cleansing effect on skin damage. Physiological saline is a solution of 0.9% NaCl (9 grams of table salt per litre) in water, so that the osmotic value of the resulting solution corresponds to that of the body tissues. The name is often shortened to physiological salt.
