How to use the Swann Morton blades

The way a surgical blade is handled before use can determine how effectively it performs during use. There are a number of ways in which the cutting edge of a knife can be damaged after it has been removed from its protective foil package.

When removing a knife from its protective package, make sure it is not placed in a metal bowl or container is dropped as this may reduce the initial sharpness of the cutting edge even before it is attached to the handle. If you need to use pliers or a needle holder to remove the blade from its protective packaging, be careful not to grab the blade over the cutting edge.
