Product description
Swann Morton Blades Sterile with Handle
Swann Morton disposable sterile scalpels, individually wrapped in trays and packed per 10, are equipped with the following blades: 10, 10A, 11, 12, 15, 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24. The scalpel is graduated on the back of the handle (for indication only) to reflect our range of metal stainless steel handles and is marked with the CE symbol previously only found on the outer packaging of the product appeared. The sterile scalpels are individually packaged in a clear thermoformed tray that provides greater visibility of the product and are designed to aid in safe passing techniques. When peeling off the pack, the seal changes color, indicating if the integrity of the pack has been violated and assuring the user of sterility until use.
Single-use scalpels are considered a convenient alternative to the traditional blade mounted on a metal handle, but do not offer the same feel and lateral stability when cutting, so they are mostly used for minor procedures outside the operating room and on hospital wards. They can also be seen in the Accident and Emergency Department (A&E) where time can be of the essence, especially when treating severe trauma victims.
Single-use scalpels are increasingly appearing as an essential part of procedure trays and custom packaging, as well as within general practice and specialty surgical centers in the community, as more minor procedures are completed within the non-acute home care market and outside major hospitals.
