Vicryl e® Rapide is identical in chemical structure and coating to Vicryle® and has the same good knotting and handling properties. However, Vicryle® Rapide is made from a polymer with a lower molecular weight, which means that it loses its tensile strength more quickly. This property makes Vicryle® Rapide the ideal suture for all applications where the tissue only needs short wound support, such as episiotomy, circumcision, skin sutures in children and mucous membrane sutures in the mouth.
